Don't worry, okay? I've got this handled. It's all under control and I promise you'll be fine. I won't put you in any compromising positions, especially ones that might hurt Elizabeth. You can trust me.
[ As promised, nothing Neal has said has proven to be entirely incorrect or untrue, although there's a flare of that typical non-disclosure he's known for. Several hours into this event, as the drinks are flowing freely and the clock is creeping past midnight, it's becoming increasingly more apparent that the two ladies they've served to escort are in no shape to make trouble, although they've certainly been trying. They are, in fact, annoyingly persistent about their advances. Neither are as old or unattractive as Caffrey might have suggested, of course, but he doubts he would have gotten Peter to agree with a legs that never end argument, so he feels justified in his omissions for now, when and where he can't be rightly chastised for it.
The ladies have been aimed at falling all over them throughout the night, but he'd been running interference pretty heavily. Peter has been Neal's primary objective (beyond the reason he'd brought them here), and thus far he's spared the poor guy most of the pawing, thank God, by acting like he clearly deserved all the attention. And as always, he looks every bit like he's enjoying it as its happening. But as the ladies slip away, giggling away on their way together to freshen up, Neal's facade quickly drops and his discomfort becomes more apparent. He doesn't need to hide it from Peter; it's in how he fidgets with the tie they'd loosened, and the buttons they'd popped open at his collar. Perhaps not so much a part of his plan as he'd originally intended.
He checks his watch and keeps his voice casually low as he talks. ]
I guess I underestimated their tolerance. [ Neal glances at Peter and obviously the gears are going in both their heads, so he steps right on whatever Burke's thinking. ] New plan: You're going to have to make the switch instead.
